It's a gas...

Today was devoted to installing the gas tank, sounds simple doesn't it?  It might be in other cars but one really does feel like the car was built around the tank.  Getting it back in the car requires casting spells, at least that's what it sounds like to the innocent observer.  After getting it in the hoses have to be connected, including the drain from the fuel filler area, then the foam pad has to be worked under the tank and the rubber isolators have to be placed under the flanges (Michelle, you've got an extra one that got away from me. Fortunately I had several left over from my car and didn't have to pull the tank back out to get it).  At any rate you get the picture, it's a time consuming process that can't be rushed.

Getting the hoses hocked up at the filler area, mostly done by feel

Evidence of a little battle damage, wonder if it was the same time as the door was replaced.

The intank fuel pump, ready for installation with the screen on the end

Tank in place with the fuel sender and fuel pump in place

One last picture of the carburetors and housing, ordered the Optima battery and hold down so getting closer to the day when we can see if the engine fires.  Will pull the distributor first and clean and set it properly.
